General Rules for all Yorkshire Order of Merit Championships
1.The Championship shall be played in accordance with the
Rules of Golf as approved by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St
Andrews and such Local Rules as shall be approved by the Championship
Committee of the individual Club hosting a Yorkshire Order of Merit
Championship.
2. All Yorkshire Order of Merit Championships shall be by Stroke Play
from Scratch over 36 holes, the player returning the lowest aggregate
score being the winner. In the event of a tie for a Yorkshire Order of
Merit Championship there will be a play off or a card play off as
determined by the Championship Committee of the individual Club hosting
the Championship.
3. The Championship Committee of the individual Club hosting the
Championship shall settle all matters relating to the Championship.
4. All other information relating to individual Championships can be
accessed by contacting the individual clubs hosting the Championships.

I am eligible to play in the Championship. My Handicap is not under
suspension at the time of entry and I fully comply with the Rules of
Amateur Status. I agree to the General Competition Rules. I enclose a cheque for the above amount in payment of the entry fee. I have READ the General Competition Rules (listed on pages 7 to 11 of the Year Book) and the Rules of the Yorkshire Amateur Championship.
Rules of the Yorkshire Amateur Championship

To be retained by the Competitor
1. It will be obligatory for all Competitors to play with a ball which is named on the current R & A List of conforming Golf Balls. Copies of which will be available at the venue.
2. The Championship shall be open to any Amateur member of a Club affiliated to the County Union, in possession of a Handicap not exceeding 6 strokes which has been ratified or accepted by the Union, and is not under suspension at the time of entry. In the event of entries exceeding 165 there will be a ballot of the higher Handicap entrants. Entries cannot be accepted from players who have taken part in the Championship of another County ( EGU County Champions Qualifying) or have represented another County at golf during the previous calendar year.
3. The Championship shall be decided by qualifying rounds of Stroke Play from Scratch over 36 holes and by Match Play from Scratch. The qualifying 36 holes will be played by two separate rounds of 18 holes each, one being played on Tuesday 24th June and the other on Wednesday 26th June. The 32 players returning the lowest aggregate scores over 36 holes shall go forward to compete by Match Play. The first four rounds will be over 18 holes and the final over 36 holes. Ties in the Stroke Play stages shall be decided on the last 18, 9, 6, 3 or 1 holes in that order. In the event of a tie in the Match Play stages, the Competitors shall continue until either side gains a hole.
4. Competitors shall start at the time laid down by the Committee. The note to rule 6-3 shall apply.
5. The Championship shall be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews and such local rules as shall be approved by the Executive Committee.
6. The Championship Trophy shall be held for one year by the winner. Prizes will be awarded to the Finalists and the two losing Semi-Finalists. The Alvin Trophy will be held for one year by the player returning the best score over 36 holes in the Qualifying Rounds, who will also receive a memento. Prizes will be awarded for the best scores on 24th & 25th June.
7. The Championship Committee, whose decision shall be final, shall settle all disputes and other matters relating to the Championship.
8. A Competitor shall not knowingly make use of any drug to enhance his performance. In this respect the attention of Competitors is drawn to the proscribed list of drugs issued by the Sports Council, a copy of which is available on request. Any Competitor infringing this condition, or if asked to do so, refusing to take a test, may be disqualified.
9. Entries on the official form and accompanied by the Entry Fee of £25 per entrant should be sent to the Honorary Secretary, YUGC, 33 George Street, Wakefield WF1 1LX, to reach him NOT LATER THAN WEDNESDAY 28th May 2008.
Subject to the agreement of the Host Club, a competitor will be granted the use of a motorised golf buggy (should one be available) only upon the production of a medical certificate stating disability. Such a vehicle would be for the use of that competitor only.
